Part 3 - UK & South Coast Ireland Motorbike Tour: Skipping the Hangovers, Chasing the Coast

After an amazing first day the day before, we made a call: skip the bikefest and do a South Coast Ireland Motorbike tour. While we’re sure it would’ve been fun, waiting around until midday for bikers to roll out of their tents with sore heads wasn’t quite as appealing as those Irish views. Ireland’s coastline was calling — and we weren’t about to ignore it.

Early start? Technically.

We were packed and rolling by 8:30am, which isn’t bad going, as the ferry wasn't leaving until 11:40pm. That gave us a whole day to enjoy one last scenic hurrah along the south coast of Ireland.

We couldn’t resist a rerun of Moll’s Gap and Killarney National Park — even more magical the second time, with barely another soul on the road. Sweeping bends, misty hills, and that unmistakable Irish green; it was the perfect goodbye (or so we thought).

Refuel for Us and the Bike

I’m not sure if it was all the fresh air (surely it couldn't have been the lack of sleep and hundreds of miles on the road), but we needed a refuel — for the bike and for ourselves. We managed to find what looked like a little backroad café to stop for a bite to eat… which turned out to be quite a posh little restaurant.

We certainly looked the part: bags under our eyes, sweating, and covered in bugs from head to toe — but hey, wouldn’t be the first time. Food is food. And honestly? The lunch was amazing, and the service was top-notch — even for two rough-looking bikers.

Bird Sh*t and Good Luck

For reasons still unknown, the birds seemed especially hostile that afternoon. Near miss after near miss — until splat — direct hit, right on the visor. They say it’s good luck, right? And this time, it actually was.

While stopping to wipe off the mess, I saw a text: the ferry was leaving an hour earlier than we thought.

We hurried back to Dublin, missed our last planned stop, but made the ferry on time. By the time it left at 10:40pm, we were both ready for a nice little snooze.Luckily, we weren’t the only passengers snoring.

Final Thoughts: Ireland – We’re Not Done Yet

This trip barely scratched the surface of what Ireland has to offer. From the winding roads of the Wild Atlantic Way to the jaw-dropping views around every corner, it’s safe to say: we’re coming back. Next time, we’re giving it the time it truly deserves.
